  1. What is NLP?

NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming Developed in the 1970’s it is the study of the structure of subjective experience.

That is, it is designed to give insight into how we, as human beings, experience life. The structure of how we do things and the differences that make a difference. This is accomplished using the core strategy of NLP, Modeling excellence.

Modeling helps us create a model of how a person does something, by examining in detail what they do both externally and more importantly internally.

Ever wondered what the difference between a gifted amateur in sport and a top professional is? Modeling gives us the answer.

So, how does this help you? In many ways, firstly a lot of the tools and techniques derived from NLP are due to modelling excellent psychologists, therapists and hypnotists. By deconstructing exactly how a person gets a result with their clients, we are able to then use this knowledge to teach others how to effect changes with their clients.

Secondly by examining a client’s experience of their problem and learning how they do that, we are able to effect positive and lasting changes, and, because you the client have made those changes yourself , those changes become resources enabling you cope more effectively in the future should you experience new problems or challenges.

  1. What Can I Expect?

Each client is different, therefore each session is different. In general, you can expect that I will:

Listen without prejudice or judgement;

Give you my full undivided attention for our entire session;

Work WITH you to get to the heart of your problem or challenge;

Work WITH you arrive at an outcome that is both achievable and respects you as an individual and fits within a wider ecological framework;

Help, encourage, challenge and motivate you to achieve your outcomes;

Use all my experience and expertise to help you overcome whatever problems or issues you are faced with.Many people come in expecting to make a change in one area of their life and, by the time we’ve finished working together, realise they have made changes in many other areas as well.

Even a small change can have far reaching positive effects on your life.

  1. How Long Is A Session?

Sessions Last for around 60 – 90 minutes depending on where we are in that session.
I will never end a session just because we are short on time. I would rather we complete the work required for that session.

  1. How Much?

I use a flexible pricing structure based upon your desired result rather than a per session basis. Once we have met and mutually agreed that we are a good fit to work with each other we will then agree on your desired outcome and discuss my fees at that point.

  1. How Many Sessions?

There are no set number of sessions. Each client has individual needs and abilities to change, therefore the number of sessions required to accomplish your outcome will be reflected in this.

Some issues may be resolved in just one or two sessions, some may take longer, you can be assured that we will only work together as long as there is benefit to you and your outcome is achieved.

  1. Where are you based?

I am based in Telford, Shropshire in the UK. However, I am able to offer Skype consultations and face to face sessions will either be in my office, or at your place of business or at a mutually convenient venue.

  1. How do I book?

Now, if you want a session, there are some rules that you need to follow.

Clients are expected to be on time for their appointment, and to do whatever preparation or homework that may be set prior to that appointment.

When and if I set preparation or homework it is for a very good reason – it is integral to the session we will be doing.

I am driven to get results for you, and we’re in a partnership to get the results as it is you that changes, not me.

So if you turn up too late or don’t carry out the preparation or homework the session will not take place – yet you will still be charged.

Should you cancel the after making a firm appointment you may still be charged.

Remember, this is in your interests, as it helps to work towards your success.

  1. How long will the changes last?

It’s very hard to give a definite answer here, sometimes the changes can be temporary, however most of the time the changes are permanent. When changes are temporary there is usually some underlying issue which needs to be resolved in order to allow the change to be permanent.
Usually when a behaviour change occurs and then relapses it’s due to some sort of positive reason for the perceived problem behaviour to occur.

Which is why, during any work we do together I am always mindful that most behaviours have a positive function at some level, in some circumstances at some time.

The key to successful and permanent change, in my opinion is to satisfy the intention of the behaviour with a more ecological and acceptable behaviour.

  1. Will it work for me?

It’s impossible to say that any approach will work 100% of the time with 100% of my clients. Any therapist or coach who claims otherwise is in my opinion naive at best and dishonest at the worst.

Integrity and honesty are the foundations of my business. What I can say is that in my experience by tailoring the right approach to the right clients I am able to help the majority of my clients improve their situation.

It is also worth bearing in mind that this is a partnership, the more effort and commitment you give yourself and our work together the more likely you are to achieve the result you are looking for.

  1. Will you speak to my spouse / partner / child?

I am willing to work with almost anyone who is committed to improving their situation.

In the case of a partner, spouse or relative it is important for them to WANT to make changes and therefore it’s important for them to contact me. Often in these cases I will work with both parties to effect changes that support and nurture all those involved.

I do work with children, in most cases I will work with the parent or guardian present and offer suggestions to help support the child. Again, it is important that the child wants to make changes.
